About

My name is Kate. I work in a residential mental healthcare treatment facility when I’m not outside. I have worked as a professional backpacking guide, volunteer ski instructor, and indoor climbing teacher. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience, Spanish, and pre-nursing. Right now, I live with my dog and my fiancee in a little apartment tucked into the western foothills of the Sierras.

Growing up in Colorado was pretty much synonymous with growing up outside and activities like backpacking, hiking, car camping, and skiing were the only type of weekend I knew. On top of giving me this wealth of outdoor knowledge and stewardship, my parents also gave me seriously terrible joints. I’ve been living with chronic pain and chronic injuries since I was eight years old. Sometimes, that makes getting outside difficult and challenging, but it’s also kind of healing.

Stick around if you’d like to learn more about my adventures, gear recommendations, recipes, and stories!
